This position overseesthe daily operations of Camp Explorer. Position is directly responsible for overseeing the camp site and its staff, along with all aspects of the program including staff management, state license compliance, and curriculum development. Shift hours varyduring the operating hours of Camp which are Monday-Friday, 7:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. Camp is located atBroomfield Heights Middle School (BHMS). Mandatory training is held evenings and weekends.

Oversees the entire Camp site and staff.
Manages the development of curriculum to ensure it is appropriate for the type of class and level of participants and implements instructional and recreational activities appropriate for the needs and skills of participants.
Assists with the development, coordination, implementation and evaluation of a variety of educational, social, recreational, entertainment events, programs, and activities for 6 14 year olds in enrichment programs with the Broomfield Recreation Services Division.
Instructs designated recreation classes according to program curriculum and philosophy.
Recognizes the ability of the class and programs accordingly to meet the needs of the individuals.
Supervises classes, workshops and activities for participants engaged in recreation programs.
Independently monitors class participants to ensure proper use of any equipment and proper technique.
Follows and enforces the Division's safety practices. Monitors the program and ensures compliance with State licensing regulations.
Training A minimum of 60 semester hours in recreation or education with a specialty in art, elementary, or early childhood education, from an accredited college or university.
Experience At least 1,040 hours of satisfactory and verifiable paid or volunteer experience, since attaining the age of 18, in the care and supervision of four or more children.
Any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides evidence that the applicant possesses the Necessary Applicant Traits and meet the State of Colorado Licensing requirements for a School Age Program Director.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS : Must be at least 21 years old. Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and safe driving record for continued employment. Must possess or obtain a valid American Red Cross Standard First Aid Certification and CPR within 21 days of hire and maintain for continued employment. Applicants must, as a condition of employment, pass the following pre-offer and post-offer/hire processes: oral board, reference checks, background checks including local police check, child abuse and sex-offender registry check, CVSA/polygraph, driving check through DMV, and fingerprint checks through CBI/FBI.
Working Conditions: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of the job. The noise level in the environment is moderate to loud. Work is generally scheduled in advance with the program scheduled Monday through Friday and may include early morning hours, afternoon hours and evening hours. Work in the Recreation Services Division may require indoor and outdoor activities. Due to the nature of recreation activities, the full range of physical movements may be required in this position. Such movements may include (but are not limited to) walking, running, jumping, lifting, climbing, and swimming. As a result, the employee is exposed to a wide variety of potential safety hazards. Exposure to outdoor weather conditions, including summer sun and temperatures, which may exceed 100 degrees. Occasional travel by automobile is required to reach a recreation activity site located away from the Recreation Center. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, talk or hear, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and taste or smell. Physical demands are described as medium (exert up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force frequently, and up to 10 lbs. force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body). Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and peripheral vision.
