Job Description

Organization Overview:

Position Summary:

You will provide operational, corporate, and field human resources support for all HSS divisions which encompasses employees in multiple states and multiple locations. You will develop and implement human resources initiatives, organizational change initiatives, policy administration, and legal compliance. Manage employees and major HR projects.

Essential Functions:

  • Develop and implement HR initiatives, policies and procedures that are aligned with HSS' culture and strategic plan and in accordance local, state, and federal laws.
  • Act as the liaison between the corporate office and field operations
  • Provide input and helps execute HR strategies.
  • Leads organizational transformation efforts, including change management, process improvement, org design and capability development for assigned areas; Provide guidance and input on business unit restructures and management of implementation.
  • Coach managers and supervisors throughout the organization on how to apply HSS policies and procedures in resolving employee relations issues.
  • Conduct disciplinary activities and terminations in partnership with operational leaders, employee relations counseling and exit interviews.
  • Create and deliver training as necessary.
  • Develop and implement new HR policies and procedures in accordance with local, state, and federal laws as well as HSS' corporate culture.
  • Hire, develop, coach, and supervise employees as well as provides recommendations for disciplinary actions.
  • Directly oversee activities of HR staff and provides support to them.
  • Analyze functions and makes suggestions, recommendations, and/or changes when appropriate to increase effectiveness and productivity.
  • Manage budgets, makes necessary business purchases, and provides expert recommendations for major organizational expenditures.
  • Apply professional judgment, discretion, confidentiality, and integrity to all duties and interactions.
  • Work and interact with executives, officers, managers, current and prospective employees, current and prospective clients, vendors, sales representatives, and guests and visitors.

Other Duties and Responsibilities

  • Participates in broader company initiatives and/or committees.
  • Prepares reports as needed.
  • Meets with employees and discusses their concerns/complaints and investigates and resolves problems. Performs other work duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Competencies:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or related field plus 8 to 10 years of progressively increasing HR management experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • PHR/SPHR or SHRM-CP/SHRMCP.
  • Prior experience with labor relations in a union environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of employment laws.
  • Knowledge of employment laws, affirmative action, labor relations, legal codes, court procedures, precedents, government regulations, executive orders, and agency rules.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
  • Highly proficient with office computers, Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Outlook, and HRIS systems
  • Proficiency with fax machines, calculators, printers, copiers, and other standard office machines
  • Detail oriented.
  • Ability to work on several projects simultaneously while continuing to provide quality work and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to communicate effectively across all level of an organization and with outside vendors
  • Ability to use math skills for analyzing budgets, contracts, and invoices.
  • Ability to use logic and reasoning skills to resolve complex issues.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to meet company driving requirements.
  • Ability to travel overnight as needed.

Manual/Physical Requirements:

This is a full-time position. Work hours will vary depending on client schedules, project deadlines, and the needs of the company. Workweeks may exceed the standard 40 hours. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand. Environment may be fast paced and stressful. Local and domestic overnight travel will be required.
