SUMMARY: The Quality Assurance Lab Associate is responsible for working both independently and

in a team to ensure quality standards are maintained. The QA Lab Associate will retrieve samples from

the production lines to ensure all products meet quality standards throughout the production process. This

is a hands-on position with the majority of the time spent on the production floor.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collects and tests food samples through various stages of the production process, and making
  • sure, all quality controls are being met.
  • Tests products at specified stages in production process, and tests products for variety of qualities
  • such as density, granulation, or temperature.
  • Recommends modifications of existing quality or production standards to production lead people
  • to achieve optimum quality within limits of equipment capability.
  • Sets up and performs nondestructive tests on materials, parts, or products. Assesses all outgoing
  • end products to ensure they meet internal and external standards.
  • Monitor facility personnel’s compliance to GMP and other food safety, food quality and
  • personnel safety policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for sample retention
  • Cross trains new lab associates
  • Other duties as assigned

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

    High School Diploma

    OR

    2 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

    LANGUAGE SKILLS:

    Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and

    procedure manuals. Ability to speak effectively before employees of organization.

    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

    Ability to work with mathematical concepts such fractions, percentages, and ratios.

    REASONING ABILITY:

    Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only

    limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral,

    diagram, or schedule form

    .

    OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

    Ability to use and maintain all lab equipment used in evaluating and assessing products and use computer

    hardware and software. The incumbent must possess a strong attention to detail and accuracy, enjoy

    working in a fast-paced environment, able to follow procedures, and have a sense of urgency.

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, reach with

    procedures.

    The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 30

    pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision,

    and depth perception.

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts.

    The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or

    caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; extreme cold; extreme heat; risk of electrical shock; and

    vibration.

    The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. The production rooms are loud and

    when the lab equipment is running the lab can be loud.
